And it went so quickly!
So quickly in fact, that I didn’t have time to update my website – rubbish! My ONLY New Year’s Resolution is learn to enjoy managing website/social media…..hmmmm!
There have been so many enjoyable events this year.
Joining Patti Riley and Lo Van Gorp and the Metropole Orkest, we sang the wonderful arrangements of her Sing to The Moon album with Laura Mvula at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam and The Helsinki Music Centre in Finland. (See Flying Without You at North Sea HERE)
The Vocal Jazz workshops with Sophie Bancroft and Liane Carroll have been jampacked this year with sessions in Hastings, Edinburgh and Portugal. More to come next year in Hastings and France and very excited about the Cromerty session in early April where we’ll be joined by guest tutors Brian Kellock and Fionna Duncan.
More later about a few dates next year with Soph and Liane where we’ll be performing – Colman, Carroll & Bancroft Unleashed!
I saw some fantastic music this year. John Scofield at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Eric Whitacre at Gloucester Cathedral, Snarky Puppy in Bristol and whist I wasn’t able to see the Maria Schnieider Orchestra Concert at Symphony Hall, I did watch her rehearsing the Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra alongside her players – it was such an inspiring afternoon – she seems to dance and sign the music across to each player, I was transfixed!
I couldn’t go for a very good reason – ESKA at the MAC! A gig I had looked forward to for so long and it was truly captivating. It is an absolute joy to see & hear the music of someone who has such integrity, style and originality and such musicality! Not to mention the things she does with her voice.
I’m now in the middle of writing music for a theatrical production AND a new album…….
